BSF troops under South Bengal Frontier foiled the plans of smugglers and rescued 121 birds (Parrots) from the clutches of smugglers from their area of responsibility on Indo-Bangladesh International Border. Smugglers were trying to take these birds from India to Bangladesh.
The incident took place at 0100 hours on 15th December, 2022 in the area of BSF Border Out Post N C Pur, 84 Battalion. When the jawans on duty observed suspicious activity in their area, they immediately started cordoning off the area. Seeing the jawans coming towards them, the smugglers escaped taking advantage of the thick bushes and darkness. On searching the area, 121 parrots were seized from the spot.
The seized birds were handed over to Tehta Forest Department for further legal action.
Commanding Officer of the 84 Battalion expressed happiness over this success and patted his men. He stated that this was only a reflection of the vigilance displayed by his jawans on duty. He has urged the people not to adopt the route of smuggling under any circumstances. He also stated in strong words that his jawans will not allow smuggling or any other kind of crime to happen on the Border under any circumstances.
