On 12th January, 2023, acting on reliable information, troops of Border Out Post Kakmarichar, 117 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier, seized 385 bottles of Phensedyl from their area of responsibility.
In other incidents, troops of Border Out Post Dobarpara, 158 Battalion apprehended a smuggler alongwith 15 bottles of Phensedyl and 30 bottles of country liquor from their area of responsibility. The apprehended smuggler has been identified as Intajul Mondal, Bangladesh. In addition, jawans of Border Out Post Bithari, 112 Battalion, Border Out Post Mahakhola, 82 Battalion and Border Out Post Madhupur, 68 Battalion seized a total of 425 bottles of Phensedyl and 2.960 Kgs of Ganja from their area of responsibility. The estimated value of seized Phensedyl and country liquor in all the cases is Rs.1,72,403/-.
The apprehended smuggler and seized goods were handed over to Police Station Sagarpara, Custom Office Tantulia, Police Station Gaighata, Chapra and Bagdah respectively for further legal action.
Spokesperson of South Bengal Frontier stated that smugglers try to smuggle in different ways to make their plans successful. But due to the intelligence and vigilance of the troops of the Border Security Force, they could not get success, he stated.
