BSF JAWANS APPREHENDED SMUGGLER WITH 08 LAKH BANGLADESHI TAKA ON THE BORDER

On 21st January, 2023 at about 1700 hrs, troops of Border Out Post Ghojadanga, 153 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier, acting on specific information, apprehended a smuggler with 08 Lakh Bangladeshi Taka. The apprehended smuggler has been identified as Anisur Molla (31), District North 24 Parganas.

During interrogation, the smuggler revealed that he works in M S Stores (Money Exchange). The owner of this store is Tapan Roy, Ghojadanga. This currency was handed over to him by Tanmay Roy, S/o Tapan Roy. After this, this currency was to be handed over to Tapan Roy. But, BSF jawans apprehended him enroute. In thorough investigation, came to know that this currency was brought to India from Bangladesh illegally. This money was being brought to the said money exchange store to be converted into Indian currency. For which no legal documents were found, the jawans seized the Bangladeshi currency along with the smuggler.

The apprehended smuggler and the seized foreign currency were handed over to Police Station Basirhat for further legal action.

The Commanding Officer of 153 Battalion stated that the Border Security Force troops are taking strict measures to prevent smuggling along the India-Bangladesh Border. Due to which people Indulged in illegal activities like smuggling are facing difficulties to run their illegal business. Some of them are being apprehended and punished according to the law.
