On 23rd January, 2023, at 0200 hrs, troops of Border Out Post Bousmari, 141 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier foiled the plans of smugglers and seized 400 bottles of Phensedyl and 10 Kgs Ganja from their area of responsibility. Smugglers were trying to take these contraband consignment from India to Bangladesh.
Acting on the information of the BSF Intelligence Department, the jawans started patrolling the area. During this, the jawans observed some suspicious activity in the banana orchid, so they immediately started cordoning off the smugglers. Seeing the jawans coming towards them, the smugglers took advantage of the thick darkness and ran away. On search of the area, a total of 400 bottles of Phensedyl and 10 Kgs of Ganja were recovered.
In other incidents, jawans of Border Out Post Tarali seized 75 bottles of Phensedyl and 07 Kgs of Ganja and Border Out Post Nawada, 70 Battalion jawans seized 25 bottles of Phensedyl from their area of responsibility. The estimated value of seized Phensedyl bottles in all the incidents is Rs.1,02,655/-.
The seized goods have been handed over to Police Station Hugalberia, Custom Office Tentulia and Kaliachak respectively for further legal action.
The spokesman of South Bengal Frontier appreciated the BSF jawans for their success. He stated that this was only a reflection of the vigilance displayed by BSF jawans on duty. He has urged the people not to adopt the route of smuggling under any circumstances. He also stated in strong words that BSF jawans will not allow smuggling or any other kind of crime to take place on the border and will not spare the people Indulged in it.
