IPS officer Gyanendra Pratap Singh was appointed as Assam Director General of Police (DGP) of Assam Police.
GP Singh informed it on Twitter, ” With the blessings of Maa Kamakhya, I look forward to the opportunity of serving the people of Assam. Gratitude to the Honourable Chief minister Assam for reposing trust in me to lead the glorious Assam Police.”

Singh would take over from the present DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta after January 31.
The present DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta will be returning on January 31.
GP Singh is a 1991 Assam Meghalaya batch IPS officer who worked in various positions thought out Assam since the nineties and knew an expert in crisis management. He is presently working as a special DGP of Assam.
