Due to the initiative of BSF, Indian relatives got the last glimpses of the deceased

On 06 Feb 2023, at about 1135 hrs, Villagers of Village Katna, Malda informed Company Commander of Border Outpost Mahadipur, 70 Battalion BSF under South Bengal Frontier that Sarol Ghosh (90 yrs) of village- Sonamasjid, Distt- Chapainwabganj (Bangladesh) has passed away and his Indian relatives sought permission to get the last glimpse of the deceased near Border Pillar No. 186/M at Zero Line.

Keeping in view the humanitarian and emotional aspect, the Company Commander obtained permission from the Commandant of 70 Battalion and liaised with the Border Guard Bangladesh and with the consent of both the Border Guarding Forces, arranged the last glimpses of the deceased near Border Pillar No. 186/M.

The commanding officer of 70 Battalion stated that the BSF personnel are deployed on the border day and night without blinking an eye and are capable of thwarting any kind of infiltration and trans-border crime. Apart from this, they also stand shoulder to shoulder with the border people in the time of their happiness and sorrow.
