Assam again witnessed another case of moral policing in Krishnapur in Hailakandi district.
On February 7, in a viral video on social media a youth was brutally beaten up for trying to steal from the house of Nijam Uddin Barbhuiya in the Hailakandi district.
Nizam Uddin Barbhuiya the owner of this , caught hold of the miscreant for illegally entering his house and tortured him mercilessly.
Various organisations and civil society of Hailakandi had demanded strict action against the persons involved in this alleged incident of moral policing.
On Tuesday, Assam DGP GP Singh alerted Hailakandi police on the viral video.

Later on night Assam DGP GP Singh again tweeted, “Reference Hailakandi viral video of torture – the main accused Nizamuddin Borbhuyan has been arrested by @HailakandiPolic along with three others. Lawful action follows.”

Total four people have been arrested so far, including the main accused, Nizamuddin.
