On February 20, 2023, troops of the Border Security Force under the South Bengal Frontier seized 625 bottles of Phensedyl near the international border.The smugglers were attempting to transport the seized Phensedyl from India to Bangladesh through the area of Border Post Tarali, 112 Battalion.
Acting on intelligence, the jawans of Border Out Post Tarali, 112 Battalion, conducted a search operation in the specified area near the international border. At about 5:00 am, the search party noticed suspicious movement of some miscreants near the international border. When the jawans chased them, the smugglers panicked and fled, leaving the bag behind. The jawans quickly pursued the smugglers, but they managed to escape by taking advantage of the dense crops and fog. Upon searching the area thoroughly, the jawans recovered 06 plastic bags (potla), in which 625 bottles of Phensedyl were found.
In other incidents, the jawans of Border Out Post Hakimpur, 112 Battalion, Border Out Post Mehrani, 107 Battalion, and Border Out Post Sasani and Border Out Post Lodhia, 70 Battalion, seized a total of 493 bottles of Phensedyl from their area of responsibility. The estimated value of the seized Phensedyl bottles in all the incidents is Rs. 2,29,537/-.
The seized goods have been handed over to the concerned agencies for further legal action.
The Public Relations Officer of South Bengal Frontier expressed satisfaction over the achievement of the BSF jawans and their commitment to stopping all kinds of trans-border crimes. The BSF jawans have once again proved their dedication and vigilance towards safeguarding the country’s border.
