Two Indian smugglers were caught red-handed by the jawans of Border Out Post Bamanabad 117 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier (BSF) with 40 bottles of Phensedyl they were trying to smuggle into Bangladesh.
On February 21st, 2023, the jawans of Border Out Post Bamanabad 117 Battalion, acting on intelligence inputs, observed suspicious movement of smugglers in their area of ​​responsibility at around 06:15 PM. When the jawans challenged the smugglers, they attempted to flee, but the BSF jawans immediately apprehended two of them. The Phensedyl bottles were recovered from the arrested smugglers who were identified as Babu Sheikh and Asidul Sheikh, both residents of District Murshidabad.
In other incidents, jawans of Border Out Post Bamanabad, 117 Battalion, and Border Out Post Nawada, 70 Battalion seized a total of 1305 bottles of Phensedyl from their area of responsibility. The estimated value of the seized Phensedyl bottles in all incidents is Rs. 2,76,142/-.
The apprehended smugglers and seized goods have been handed over to the concerned agencies for further action.
The Public Relations Officer of South Bengal Frontier said that the Border Security Force is taking strict measures to stop all kinds of smuggling along the Indo-Bangladesh Border. He emphasized that BSF jawans are fully committed to stopping smuggling in their area of responsibility and are taking strict action against smugglers.
