On February 22, 2023, a friendly cricket match was played between the Border Security Force (BSF) and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in the area of Border Out Post Brahmanagar, 82 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier (BSF), in District Nadia. The match was played in a spirit of camaraderie and mutual respect.
The match started at 11 am, with the BGB team winning the toss and electing to bat first. Approximately 1,000 spectators from Brahmanagar, Hridaypur, and nearby villages attended the thrilling match. The BGB team emerged victorious in a closely fought match.
Dr. Atul Fulzele, IPS, Inspector General, South Bengal Frontier, and Imarat Hussain, PBGM, Deputy Director General, Sector Commander, Kushtia, were the chief guests from the BSF and BGB sides, respectively. The Border Guard Bangladesh team and 36 other members were warmly received at the Zero Line by officers of all the battalions under Sector HQrs Krishnanagar. After this, the BGB members were given a guard of honor at the Border Out Post Brahmanagar. A total of 37 members were present.
At the end of the match, the Inspector General, South Bengal Frontier, and Sector Commander, Kushtia, distributed prizes to all the players. Trophies were awarded for Man of the Match, Best Bowler, and Best Batsman. In his speech, the BGB Sector Commander expressed gratitude for the warm welcome given by the BSF and for conducting the friendly match, stating that the friendship between India and Bangladesh would remain forever.
In the closing address of the match, Dr. Atul Fulzele stated that the BSF and BGB always perform duty by establishing cooperative relations with each other on the international Border. He further stated that various such games have been organized earlier also between BSF and BGB. He assured that such friendly games would continue to be organized between the two forces in the future as well. He stated that such events would further strengthen the relations between the border guarding forces of the two countries.
The friendly cricket match between BSF and BGB was a wonderful opportunity for the forces of both countries to come together and celebrate their friendship. Such events are crucial for fostering goodwill and cooperation between neighboring countries.
