BSF troops under South Bengal Frontier foiled the plans of smugglers and seized 609 bottles of Phensedyl from their area of responsibility in the Indo-Bangladesh International Border area. The estimated value of the seized Phensedyl bottles is Rs. 1,25,034/-.
The first incident took place on 01 March 2023 at 0310 hours in the area of Border Out Post Khasmahal, 141 Battalion under Sector Berhampur, BSF. Acting on intelligence, when the jawans on duty noticed suspicious activity, they immediately cordoned off the area and launched a search operation. During the search, the smugglers present in the area fled by taking advantage of the thick darkness. The jawans recovered 468 bottles of Phensedyl from the spot.
In other incidents, jawans of Border Out Post Nawada, M S Pur, 70 Battalion and Border Out Post Sowapur, 115 Battalion seized a total of 141 bottles of Phensedyl from their area of responsibility.
The seized goods were handed over to the concerned agencies for further legal action.
The Commanding Officer of 141 Battalion expressed satisfaction over this success and appreciated the BSF jawans. He stated that this is only a reflection of the vigilance displayed by the jawans on duty. He has urged the people not to adopt the route of smuggling under any circumstances. He also stated in strong words that jawans will not allow smuggling or any other type of crime to take place on the Border and will not spare the persons indulged in it.
The BSF has been successful in preventing the illegal smuggling of drugs,gold ,silver and other contraband items across the border. This recent seizure is another example of the BSF’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the nation.
