The BSF troops under South Bengal Frontier foiled the plans of smugglers and seized 507 bottles of Phensedyl from their area of responsibility on the Indo-Bangladesh International Border. The estimated value of the seized Phensedyl bottles is Rs.1,04,092/-.
The first incident took place on March 4th, 2023, at 04:10 hours at the Border Out Post Nadhirkana, 70 Battalion of BSF. Acting on intelligence, the jawans on duty sensed some suspicious activity and immediately cordoned off the area, launching a search operation. During the search, the smugglers present in the area fled, taking advantage of the thick darkness. The jawans recovered 400 bottles of Phensedyl from the spot.
In other incidents, jawans of Border Out Post Charmurashi, 117 Battalion and Border Out Post Tentulberia, 158 Battalion seized a total of 107 bottles of Phensedyl from their area of responsibility.
The BSF handed over the seized goods to the concerned agencies for further legal action.
Expressing satisfaction over the success of the jawans, the spokesperson of the South Bengal Frontier appreciated them and stated that this is only a reflection of the vigilance displayed by the BSF jawans on duty. He urged people not to adopt the route of smuggling under any circumstances and stated in strong words that BSF jawans will not allow smuggling or any other type of crime to take place on the border and will not spare the persons involved in it.
