The Border Security Force (BSF) jawans exhibited their bravery and commitment to the environment by controlling a fierce fire that broke out suddenly in Hinjal Forest falling in the area of Border Out Post Anuradhapura, 44 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier.

On March 5, 2023, at 12 noon, a massive fire engulfed the area, threatening the lives of speechless birds and animals living in the forest. The villagers immediately informed the company commander about the fire. The company commander, along with the jawans, immediately reached the spot with fire extinguishers and started extinguishing the fire. They also informed the Forest Reserve, DM Malda, and the Fire Brigade Department about the incident.

The team of the fire brigade also reached the spot, and after five hours of rigorous efforts by the BSF and the fire brigade, the fire was brought under control. There was no loss of life or property in this incident.

The Commanding Officer of the 44 Battalion expressed his gratitude towards the BSF jawans and the fire brigade team for their prompt response and tireless efforts to control the fire. He stated that the BSF troops plant trees and saplings on the border every year and are always committed to saving the trees planted on the border. By extinguishing the fire, they have saved the lives of speechless birds and animals living in the forest.
