Women’s Day celebration at The Assam Royal Global University

On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2023 celebration, the Assam Royal Global University organized an intra-university badminton tournament keeping in view Government of India’s Khelo India initiative, amongst female faculty and students of the varsity, that saw participation from a total of 14 teams with 28 players. There were a number of spectators from various departments to encourage the players, adding zeal and enthusiasm to the spirit of celebrating womanhood.

On the other hand, Departments of English, Law, and Social Work marked the occasion with a panel discussion under the United Nations theme “DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality”. Invited speakers included retired Chief General Manager, Indian Oil, Guwahati Refinery, Anjana B Sarmah, Anti-trafficking activist Pallabi Ghosh, lawyer and academician Dr. Nikita Barooah, academician Dr. Arpee Saikia and the Vice President of the Students’ Union, Cotton University, Himparna Das.


The event was graced by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. (Dr.) S.P. Singh who deliberated on the space of the woman in the Indian household, tracing the progress in her liberty and its implications in the past sixty-odd years. The impact of the woman’s voice in the decision making of a family adds to the value of all the relationships within the home, he observed.
