On March 14, 2023, the Border Security Force (BSF) organized a civic action program on the Indo-Bangladesh border to distribute essential household items to needy people living in the border area. The event was held at Border Out Post Kedaripara, 159 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier, and was attended by hundreds of villagers from Aragachi, Dala, Tikapara, and Charantala villages.
During the event, sewing machines were given to women to help them become more self-reliant and increase their working style. Volleyball, football, and nets were also distributed to encourage the youth to take an interest in sports. Essential items were also provided to the villagers.
Babita Bhowmik, Head of Bedhiyapur Gram Panchayat, and members of nearby villages were present at the camp to raise awareness about the program. The BSF distributed goods worth Rs 88 thousand 200 to the needy villagers.
The villagers appreciated the program and requested the BSF to organize more such camps in the future.
The Commanding Officer of 159 Battalion commended the troops for organizing the program and stated that such events create a positive image of the force and instill a sense of security among the citizens. He further added that similar programs would be organized in the border areas in the future.
