(Dist- North 24 Parganas)
Border Security Force (BSF) troops under South Bengal Frontier seized 2.535 kg of silver ornaments with an estimated value of Rs.1,40,071/-, foiling a smuggling attempt from the border area.
On March 17, 2023, jawans of Border Out Post Bithari, 112 Battalion, acting on specific information, conducted a special search operation near the International Border. During the operation, they observed a suspicious cyclist going towards his house from Dharkanda village, whose house was located ahead of the fence. When the jawans stopped him, he panicked and left the cycle and ran away. The absconded smuggler, identified as Yarul from District North 24 Parganas, was trying to take silver jewelry from India to Bangladesh. The BSF jawans recovered the cycle and conducted a thorough search, leading to the discovery of the silver ornaments hidden in the seat, frame, and handle of the cycle.
The seized silver ornaments and cycle were handed over to the Custom Office, Tentulia.
The Commanding Officer of 112 Battalion expressed satisfaction over the achievement of the jawans and stated that this success was only possible because of the vigilance displayed by BSF jawans on duty. He further added that his team constantly monitors the criminal activities happening in the border area and provides information related to smuggling, ensuring that nothing can be hidden from the eyes of BSF jawans.
