A Joint Retreat Ceremony Parade was organized at ICP Petrapole-Benapole on the occasion of Independence Day of Bangladesh on Sunday evening, 26th March 2023. On behalf of BGB, Brigadier General Shamim Ahmed, Region Commander, Jashore and other officers of BGB attended the ceremony. From the BSF side, Shri Rajesh Kumar, Deputy Inspector General, Sector Headquarters Kolkata and Shri Amerish Kumar Arya, Deputy Inspector General, South Bengal Frontier, along with other officers of BSF participated.
The ceremony began with officials of both countries welcoming each other by exchanging bouquets and sweets. It is important to mention that the Border Guarding Forces of both the countries have harmonious and cordial relations. The exchange of sweets between the Border Guarding Forces of both the countries comes as a gesture of goodwill and shows true co-operation. It also helps in making cordial relations sweet and strong. The two countries have a long standing tradition of exchanging sweets on the occasion of their festivals.
The event concluded with the BGB officials expressing their gratitude for the warm welcome accorded by the BSF and for organizing the joint Retreat Ceremony Parade. They also stated that the friendship between India and Bangladesh will remain forever.
