Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu has announced that March 31 Assam government decided to celebrate as ‘Student Day’ in Assam.

The day is dedicated to the memory of a renowned Bodo social activist Upendra Nath Brahma, on the occasion of his birth anniversary.
All educational institutes in the state have been asked to take part in the celebrations.
In September 2022, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the Assam government will celebrate the birthday of Bodo social activist Upendranath Brahma on March 31 every year as ‘Chatra Divas’.
