BSF troops under South Bengal Frontier foiling the plans of smugglers, seized 667 bottles of Phensedyl from the areas under their responsibility along the Indo-Bangladesh Border and apprehended an Indian smuggler red-handed. The estimated value of the seized Phensedyl bottles is Rs.1,36,942/-.
On 27th March 2023, at about 2000 hrs, the troops of Border Out Post Khararmath, 158 Battalion, during routine checking intercepted a Pulsar bike. On being asked about his movement, the bike rider got scared and couldn’t give suitable reply. Noticing his suspicious behaviour, jawans searched his bike thoroughly. During search, 19 bottles Phensedyl were recovered from the bike concealed inside the side cover tool box. Jawans immediately apprehended the bike rider and seized the Phensedyl bottles. The apprehended smuggler has been identified as Shibshankar Dhali, District- North 24 Parganas. The apprehended smuggler along with seized items have been handed over to Police Station Gaighata for further legal action.
Apart from this, jawans of Border Out Post Chandanichak and Chabghati, 115 Battalion, Border Out Post Gopalnagar, 70 Battalion, Border Out Post Dobarpara, 158 Battalion, Border Out Post Kaharpara, 117 Battalion and Border Out Post Asharidah, 35 Battalion have seized a total of 648 bottles of Phensedyl from their area of responsibility.
Public Relations Officer of South Bengal Frontier stated that smugglers adopt different tactics to carry out smuggling activities. BSF personnel are guarding the borders 24×7 hrs and are committed to stop all sorts of smuggling activities across the border. Due to which people involved in crimes like smuggling are being caught continuously.
