Foiling smuggling attempt, BSF troops under South Bengal Frontier seized 3.930 kg of silver ornaments from the International Border. The estimated value of the seized silver ornaments is Rs 2,26,725/-. The smuggler was trying to smuggle these silver ornaments from India to Bangladesh.
On 29th March, 2023, at about 1205 hrs, troops of Border Out Post Tarali, 112 Battalion, acting on reliable information, conducted a special search operation near the International Boundary. Meanwhile, the jawans noticed suspicious movement of a bike rider who was coming from village Nityanand Kathi and going towards village Tarali Majherpara. When the jawans stopped him and asked about his movement, he got nervous and could not give a suitable reply. Thereafter, the jawans conducted a thorough search of the bike. During search, 3.930 kg of silver ornaments were recovered from the cavity of the air filter box of the bike. The jawans immediately apprehended the bike rider and seized the bike and silver ornaments. The apprehended smuggler has been identified as Rony Sardar, District- North 24 Parganas.
The apprehended smuggler along with the seized goods has been handed over to Custom Office Tentulia for further legal action.
Expressing satisfaction over the success of the jawans, the spokesperson of the South Bengal Frontier stated that his jawans will not allow smuggling or any other kind of crime to take place on the border under any circumstances and will not spare the persons involved in it. To deter smuggling at the border, the Border Security Force keep vigilant and adopt various operational measures. He also stated that he has a great team to provide information related to smuggling, which keeps a close watch on the criminal activities happening in the border area.
