Assam Government today observe the birthday of Bodo Upendra Nath Brahma. Brahma, fondly known as ‘Bodofa’ was a Bodo community leader and the former president of the All Bodo Students Union. Brahma was born on 31st March 1956.
Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu tweeted, “Offered tributes to Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma on the occasion of his Jayanti at the Central Hall of Assam Legislative Assembly in Guwahati.During his short life span of 34 years, he shaped the destiny of the greater Bodo community. His life & ideals will be remembered forever”.
Opposition leader Debabrata Saikia paid floral tributes to Upendra Nath Brahma in the Central Hall of the Assam Legislative Assembly.
Assam Government dedicates 31st March as Students Day as a tribute to Upendra Nath Brahma.
Honouring the legacy of ‘Father of the Bodo People’ Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, the Govt of Assam has decided to observe 31st March as “Student's Day”.

The Students Day will be observed in all educational institutions as a tribute to the student leader.
On September 2022, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the Assam government will celebrate the birthday of Bodo social activist Upendranath Brahma on March 31 every year as ‘Students Day’.
