Foiling smuggling attempt, BSF troops under South Bengal Frontier apprehended an Indian smuggler red-handed along with 25 bottles of Phensedyl on the International Border. The smuggler was attempting to smuggle these Phensedyl bottles from India to Bangladesh.
On April 04, 2023, at about 5:50 pm, troops of Border Out Post Hakimpur, 112 Battalion, conducted a special search operation on Hakimpur Check Post based on reliable information. During the operation, jawans noticed a suspicious Bike coming from Swarupada village and heading towards Hakimpur village. Upon intercepting the Bike, the driver appeared nervous and was unable to provide a suitable response. The jawans then conducted a thorough search of the Bike, and recovered 25 bottles of Phensedyl hidden in the cavity of air filter. The Bike Rider, identified as Mahasin Biswas from the North 24 Parganas district, was immediately apprehended along with the Bike and Phensedyl bottles.
The apprehended smuggler and seized Phensedyl bottles were handed over to the police station Swarupnagar for further legal action.
Besides, in another incident, on the same day, troops of Border Out Post Bazidpur, 107 Battalion recovered 25 bottles of Phensedyl from their responsibility area.
Expressing satisfaction over the success of the operation, the spokesperson of the South Bengal Frontier stated that all smuggling prone-routes and patches have been put under strict surveillance in a bid to discourage from carrying out smuggler’s nefarious intensions. Due to which people involved in crimes like smuggling are being caught continuously.
