Foiling smuggling attempt, BSF troops under South Bengal Frontier apprehended an Indian smuggler red-handed along with 365 Nos Yaba Tablets worth Rs 1,82,500/- on the International Border. The smuggler was attempting to smuggle these Yaba tablets from India to Bangladesh.
On April 09, 2023, at about 0740 hrs, troops of Border Out Post Amudia, 112 Battalion, conducted a special search operation based upon reliable information. During the operation, jawans noticed a suspicious Motorcycle coming from Amudia market and heading towards Chituri village. Upon intercepting the Motorcycle, the driver appeared nervous and was unable to provide a suitable response. The jawans then conducted a thorough search of the Motorcycle, and recovered 365 Nos Yaba tablets and 1000 BD Taka hidden in the cavity of dashboard of Motorcycle. The Motorcycle Rider, identified as Abujar Molla from the North 24 Parganas district, was immediately apprehended along with the Motorcycle and recovered items.
The apprehended smuggler along with seized items were handed over to the police station Swarupnagar for further legal action.
Expressing satisfaction over the success of the operation, the spokesperson of the South Bengal Frontier stated that all smuggling prone-routes and patches have been put under strict surveillance in a bid to discourage from carrying out smuggler’s nefarious intensions. Due to which people involved in crimes like smuggling are being caught continuously.
