BSF jawans under the South Bengal Frontier seized 37 kg of ganja in their area of responsibility on the Indo-Bangladesh border that smugglers were attempting to smuggle from India to Bangladesh.
On April 12, 2023, late at night around 0110 hours, troops from Border Outpost Mustafapur, 107 Battalion noticed suspicious movements of smugglers on both sides of the border fence. When the jawans advanced towards the smugglers to thwart the smuggling attempts, the smugglers fled from the spot taking advantage of the thick darkness, bamboo bushes, and dense locality. During an intensive search of the area, the jawans recovered 22 kg of ganja from the spot.
In another incident on the same day, troops from Border Outpost Amudia, 112 Battalion seized 15 kg of ganja in their area of responsibility along the border, which smugglers were trying to smuggle from India to Bangladesh.
The seized ganja was handed over to the concerned agencies for further legal action.
The spokesman of the South Bengal Frontier expressed satisfaction over the achievement of the BSF jawans and stated that the Border Security Force always maintains vigilance and adopts various operational measures to prevent smuggling along the border. He also mentioned that BSF has an excellent team to provide information related to smuggling and keeps a close watch on the criminal activities happening in the border areas.
