The Border Security Force (BSF) foiled the plan of a group of smugglers attempting to smuggle tapentadol medicines worth Rs. 4.48 lakh. Alert jawans from the Border Outpost Jeetpur, 68 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier, spotted 4-5 smugglers moving towards the border fencing on the night of April 16th, 2023, at 2040 hours. When the jawans pursued them, the smugglers fled back towards village under cover of darkness.
Following the incident, the jawans carried out a thorough search of the area and found a bag containing 1300 leaves of tapentadol tablets and 81 drug papers of medicine. The estimated value of the seized articles is Rs. 4,48,500/-.
The jawans handed over the seized items to the Police Station in Baghdah.
The Commanding Officer of 68 Battalion praised the promptness of the BSF troops in carrying out their duties along the international border. He stated that smugglers continue to find new ways to transport goods across the border, but that the BSF remains vigilant and committed to stopping illegal activities. The BSF is resolute in its determination to prevent cross-border smuggling under all circumstances.
