The Border Security Force (BSF) under South Bengal Frontier has seized a significant quantity of medicines, valued at over Rs. 6,49,277/-, from the Ichhamati river on the Indo-Bangladesh border in the North 24 Parganas district. The seizure was made by the jawans of Border Outpost Taki, 85 Battalion on April 19, 2023, who intercepted smugglers attempting to smuggle the medicines from India to Bangladesh.
At 3:30 am, the jawans on duty observed the movement of smugglers near the Ichhamati river. The smugglers were crossing the river with a bag and attempting to flee to Bangladesh. The jawans chased and challenged them, causing the smugglers to abandon the bag and escape. Upon inspection, the jawans discovered a collection of different brand medicines inside the bag.
The seized medicines were handed over to Custom Office Hasanabad for further legal action.
The spokesperson for the BSF, South Bengal Frontier, expressed satisfaction with the successful seizure, citing it as a testament to the vigilance displayed by the BSF personnel on duty.
