After 51years , one of India’s longest running dispute comes to a decisive end ,says Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday evening after an MOU signed with Arunachal Pradesh.

 

Taking to tweeter this evening, he wrote , ” After 51 years , one of India’s longest running dispute comes to a decisive end. This breakthrough has been possible due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, guidance of Union home minister Amit Shah and unstinted support from chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh Prema Khandu.

An MOU was signed on Thursday between two northeastern states – Assam and Arunachal Pradesh in capital Delhi. The Union home minister Amit Shah was present to resolve the long pending border dispute along the boundaries of the two neighboring state .

The signing of an arrangement for the settlement of an interstate boundary dispute is a very big achievement.

Today, we have crossed the milestone for the establishment of a developed peaceful and and conflict free northeast. ” Amit Shah said.

Back on Wednesday, the Assam cabinet had approved the recommendations by 12 regional committees formed by the state government to resolve the 51 years long border issue with neighbor Arunachal Pradesh.
