In addition to securing the country’s borders, the Border Security Force (BSF) is always prepared to assist the residents of the border areas. An excellent example of this was demonstrated by the jawans of the 86 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier, who promptly assisted a woman suffering from labor pain in the border region and transported her to the hospital.

On April 19, 2023, a 22-year-old woman named Urmita Sinha from Shikarpur village began experiencing labor pain. Unfortunately, there was no ambulance or transportation means available in the village, so the woman’s family members contacted the company commander of the BSF border outpost in Shikarpur and informed them of the situation. Without delay, the company commander dispatched a BSF ambulance with a nursing assistant to the woman’s home. The woman was then taken to Karimpur Hospital, and her condition has since improved.

The woman’s husband, Pallab Sinha, expressed his gratitude to the Border Security Force for their humanitarian work. He stated that the BSF is always like an angel in every joy and sorrow of the border residents when they are needed.

The Commanding Officer of the 86 Battalion expressed satisfaction with the jawans’ commendable work and explained that, in addition to preventing border crimes, the Border Security Force also helps in every crisis faced by the border residents to maintain a good relationship between them and the BSF.
