In an act of bravery, troops of Border Outpost Hasanabad, 85 Battalion jawans under South Bengal Frontier saved a minor girl from drowning in the Ichhamati river on April 20, 2023. The patrolling party of the Border Outpost Hasanabad spotted the girl floating downstream towards the international border and struggling to come out of the river. The patrol party immediately organized a rescue team and rushed to the spot by speed boat. The jawans took the girl out of the river and brought her to the Border Outpost Hasanabad. The rescued girl has been identified as Khushbu Kumari (17) of District Golpalganj, Bihar.
After the rescue, the family members of the girl also reached the border post at the same time. The company commander interrogated the girl in the presence of her family members. The girl said she came to visit her maternal uncle’s house . The girl narrated that she was talking on the mobile while standing on the river pool, and suddenly her foot slipped, and she fell into the river. She further added that after some time, the BSF rescue team came and took her out of the river safely.
The company commander took the girl along with her family members to the nearest rural hospital, Taki, in a BSF ambulance. The condition of the girl is now out of danger.
When the villagers got the news of the rescue, they praised the Border Security Force and said that the BSF always does such rescue work without any delay. The relatives of the girl expressed their gratitude and said that if the BSF could not reach at the right time, then they had no other option, and the girl’s life could have been lost.
The Commanding Officer of the 85 Battalion expressed satisfaction over the commendable work of the jawans and stated that the Border Security Force, along with curbing the crimes on the border, stands with the border residents in every happiness and sorrow.In any untoward incident, the BSF jawans stand shoulder to shoulder with the people and ensure their safety and well-being.
