On April 22, 2023, in the late evening at the Pannapur border outpost in South Bengal Frontier, the 159 Battalion’s jawans extinguished a fire in the house of Krishna Haldar, a resident of the border village Parvatidanga in Malda district.
Krishna Haldar and his family were absent when the fire broke out in their house for unknown reasons. Upon receiving the news of the fire, the jawans from the border outpost Pannapur promptly rushed to the scene with fire extinguishers. After significant efforts, the troops managed to bring the fire under control. Although no lives were lost in the incident, many of the villager’s belongings were burnt.
The villagers wholeheartedly appreciated the Border Security Force’s efforts and stated that the BSF often appears as an angel for the border residents during similar incidents.
The Commanding Officer of the 159 Battalion expressed happiness over the commendable work of the jawans and said that the Border Security Force not only helps in curbing border crimes but also supports border residents during both happy and challenging times, helping to maintain a cordial relationship between the BSF and the border residents.
