On the night of April 21, 2023, jawans of Border Outpost Maysimpur, 68 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier, took action based on reliable information and seized 400 bottles of Phensedyl in a special operation. Showing promptness, troops of Border Out Post Tilla, 68 Battalion, also seized 50 bottles of Phensedyl which smugglers were attempting to take from India to Bangladesh.
Additionally, jawans of Border Outpost Hridaypur, 82 Battalion, Border Outpost Bharol, 86 Battalion, and Border Outpost Nawada, 70 Battalion were successful in seizing 153 bottles of Phensedyl from their areas of responsibility. The estimated value of the seized Phensedyl bottles in all the incidents is Rs. 1,23,802/-.
The seized Phensedyl bottles were handed over to the concerned agencies for further legal action.
The spokesman of BSF, South Bengal Frontier, stated that the Border Security Force is taking strict measures to prevent smuggling along the India-Bangladesh border, causing difficulties for those involved in such crimes. The officer further stated that they will not allow smuggling from their area under any circumstances.
