BSF FOILS DRUG SMUGGLING ATTEMPT ON INDO-BANGLADESH BORDER, SEIZES HUGE QUANTITY OF GANJA AND PHENSEDYL

The Border Security Force has foiled the plans of smugglers trying to transport drugs from India to Bangladesh. The BSF jawans under the South Bengal Frontier confiscated a large quantity of ganja and Phensedyl on the Indo-Bangladesh border, in the districts of North 24 Parganas, Nadia, and Malda.

On April 23, 2023, the troops of Border Outpost Amudia, 112 Battalion noticed the suspicious movement of smugglers on both sides of the International Border. As the jawans advanced towards the smugglers with the aim of thwarting the smuggling attempts, the smugglers took advantage of the darkness and dense locality and fled from the spot. However, during the intensive search of the area, the jawans recovered 10 kg of ganja. In another incident, on the night of April 24, 54 Battalion’s Border Outpost Haldarpara noticed the movement of 3-4 smugglers in a mango orchard. During the search, 420 bottles of Phensedyl and 02 kg of Ganja were found hidden under the mango leaves.

In addition, 50 bottles of Phensedyl were seized by jawans of Border Outpost Daulatpur, 115 Battalion. The total value of the seized Phensedyl bottles is estimated to be Rs. 96,496/-.

The BSF handed over the seized goods to the appropriate authorities for further legal action.

The spokesperson of the South Bengal Frontier, BSF, expressed satisfaction with the achievement of the BSF jawans and stated that the BSF always maintains vigilance to prevent smuggling on the border. The spokesperson also mentioned that an efficient team keeps a close watch on the criminal activities happening in the border area and provides information related to smuggling.
