BSF SEIZES A HUGE CONSIGNMENT OF PHENSEDYL IN SEPARATE INCIDENTS ALONG THE INDO-BANGLADESH BORDE

(District- North 24 Parganas & Nadia)

On May 08, 2023, BSF jawans under South Bengal Frontier seized 383 bottles of Phensedyl in two separate incidents along the Indo-Bangladesh border in the North 24 Parganas and Nadia districts. The seizure was made based on concrete information that smugglers were attempting to smuggle from India to Bangladesh. The estimated value of the seized Phensedyl bottles is Rs.78,633/-.

Late at night, at 2350 hours, the jawans on duty noticed some material floating in the Barakul river in plastic packets. They immediately informed the boat patrolling party, which reached the spot in a speed boat and took the packets into their possession. On opening the plastic bags, 190 bottles of Phensedyl were found.

In other incidents, jawans of Border Outpost Halderpara, 54 Battalion, and Border Outpost Padampur, 68 Battalion seized 193 bottles of Phensedyl from their respective areas of responsibility.

The seized goods have been handed over to the concerned agencies for further legal action.

A spokesperson for BSF South Bengal Frontier expressed satisfaction with the jawans’ achievement and stated that the Border Security Force maintains vigilance and employs various operational measures to prevent smuggling along the border. He also highlighted BSF’s excellent team that provides information on smuggling and closely monitors criminal activities in the border area.
