BSF troops under South Bengal Frontier have seized 10 kg of Ganja and 572 bottles of Phensedyl from smugglers attempting to cross the Indo-Bangladesh International Border from India to Bangladesh. The Phensedyl bottles seized are estimated to be worth Rs.1,23,555/-.

The incident occurred at 0030 hours on May 10, 2023, in the area of Border Out Post Madhugiri, 141 Battalion. The jawans on duty received information from the intelligence department about smugglers attempting to smuggle Ganja and Phensedyl. Acting on the information, the jawans laid ambushes at various locations. When the troops noticed suspicious activity in their area, they immediately surrounded the smugglers. However, the smugglers fled from the spot taking advantage of the darkness. After a thorough search, 10 kg of Ganja and 249 bottles of Phensedyl were recovered from the area.

In other incidents, Border Outposts Mahakhola, 82 Battalion, Dobarpara, Adhoc SB-lll Battalion seized 323 bottles of Phensedyl from their area of responsibility.

The seized items have been handed over to the concerned agencies for further legal action.

A spokesperson for BSF South Bengal Frontier expressed satisfaction over the success of the BSF jawans and attributed it to their vigilance. The spokesperson urged people not to engage in smuggling and stated that BSF jawans would not allow any criminal activity to take place on the border and would not spare those involved in it.
