The Northeastern States of India Sikkim is celebrating its 48th State Day on Tuesday.
It was on this day in 1975 that Sikkim had become a state of the Union of India following the 36th amendment of the Constitution.
President Droupadi Murmu greeted people of Sikkim on their Statehood day. In a tweet the president said,” Greetings to the people of Sikkim on Statehood Day! Sikkim presents a blend of modernity and unique traditions. The state has pioneered organic farming, enriched biodiversity and created a model for sustainable development. I was touched by the warmth of people during my visit of the state last year. My best wishes for the continued progress of Sikkim.”

The Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang Golay greets to the people of Sikkim on the historic occasion of the 48th State Day 2023.
While addressing the gathering, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Golay highlighted the history of Sikkim as a democracy, claiming.
CM Tamang also said , “on this important occasion, I pay my respects and thank the former Chief Ministers of Sikkim, Padma Vibhushan, Late Shri L. D. Kazi, Late Shri Nar Bahadur Bhandari, Late Shri B B Gurung, Late Shri S M Subba, and Shri Pawan Chamling along with their cabinet colleagues, legislators, and executive.”
The present government of Sikkim has prioritized the health and sector besides fulfilling the urgent requirements direly required by the public. People in the state can now avail quality health services in addition to medical assistance from the Chief Minister’s Medical Assistance Cell and ‘Garib Janakalyan Prakoshta’, a non-profitable organization. Chief Minister Tamang said.
