After a gap of four years Shillong Lajong Football Club returns I League.
Shillong Lajong Football Club was on Sunday confirmed as the first team to be promoted to the 2023-24 I-League.
Lajong defeated FC Bengaluru United 2-1 at the SSA Stadium in Shillong to take their final-round tally to 7 points from 4 games.
Lajong Football Club was relegated after finishing at the bottom of the table in the 2018-19 season.
Shillong Lajong Club became the first football club from Northeast who played who played I – In league in 2009-10.
The Meghalaya club have a history of producing top-quality players, with the likes of Eugeneson Lyngdoh, Chinglensana Singh, Bipin Singh, Vishal Kaith, Naorem Mahesh Singh and Seiminlen Doungel who are playing for India in International Football Match.
Including Lajong Football Club this year four clubs from the Northeast will play in I League Aizawl FC, NEROCA FC and TRAU FC among them.
