On May 23, 2023, alert jawans of Border Out Post Ranghat, 68 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier, seized 16 plastic bags filled with fish eggs within their area of responsibility. The market price of the fish eggs is Rs. 2,40,000/-. The smugglers were attempting to smuggle the fish eggs from India to Bangladesh.

Notably, the border outpost Ranghat received information that a substantial amount of fish eggs was about to be smuggled from their area. Subsequently, the troops increased their vigilance and initiated a search operation. At 3:30 am, the search party observed 9-10 smugglers swiftly moving towards the border. The jawans pursued and confronted the smugglers. Upon seeing the approaching troops, the smugglers abandoned their goods in fear and fled, taking advantage of the nearby paddy field. The jawans seized the fish eggs from the location.

The seized items were handed over to Bagdah Police Station for further legal action.

The Commanding Officer of the 68 Battalion stated that the Border Security Force personnel consistently fulfill their duties along the international border with promptness, and no acts of smugglers can escape their attention. He further emphasized that smugglers may employ various tactics, but the vigilant BSF jawans always thwart their efforts.
