The Border Security Force (BSF), responsible for safeguarding the India-Bangladesh border, not only focuses on border security but also organizes periodic awareness programs to combat crimes and wrongdoing in the border region. On May 23, 2023, the Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of Border Post Mahakhola, part of the 82nd Battalion under the South Bengal Frontier, conducted an awareness program on the prevention of human trafficking and other crimes in Mahakhola village (Haldar).
During this informative session, the BSF’s Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) educated villagers on various topics, including human trafficking, child marriage, child abuse, child labor, gender discrimination, and the significance of education. A total of 61 villagers, comprising 41 women, 11 men, and 9 children, actively participated in the awareness program.
The villagers expressed their gratitude to the BSF for organizing this program and encouraged the jawans to continue conducting such awareness initiatives in the future.
The Commanding Officer of the 82nd Battalion emphasized that such programs are conducted regularly to foster stronger relations between the BSF and the border population. He further stressed the importance of providing quality education to children in order to nurture them as responsible citizens.
