President of India, Prime Minister condoles loss of lives due to train accident in Odisha.
On a tweet PM tweeted, ” Deeply anguished to know about the loss of lives in an unfortunate rail accident in Balasore, Odisha. My heart goes out to the bereaved families. I pray for the success of rescue operations and quick recovery of the injured.”
In a tweet PM Narendra Modi said, “Distressed by the train accident in Odisha. In this hour of grief, my thoughts are with the bereaved families. May the injured recover soon. Spoke to Railway Minister @AshwiniVaishnaw and took stock of the situation. Rescue ops are underway at the site of the mishap and all possible assistance is being given to those affected.”
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced ex-gratia compensation to the victims of this unfortunate train accident in Odisha;₹10 Lakh in case of death,₹2 Lakh towards grievous and ₹50,000 for minor injuries. Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw orders high-level probe.
Report from news agency ANI Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw takes stock of the situation at the accident site in Balasore where search and rescue operation is underway.
Speaking with ANI Railway minister told it’s a big tragic accident. Railway, NDRF, SDRF, and State govt are conducting the rescue operation. Best possible healthcare facilities will be provided. Compensation was announced yesterday. A high-level committee has been formed to inquire about it.

“So far around 900 passengers have been injured & are being treated in various hospitals in Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Jajpur & Cuttack districts. So far, 233 dead bodies have been recovered says Odisha Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik declares one-day state mourning in Odisha. No State celebration to take place on today through out Odisha.
