BSF THWARTS SMUGGLERS’ PLANS AGAIN; SEIZES FISH EGGS WORTH RS. 4 LAKH ON INDO-BANGLADESH BORDER

BSF personnel from the South Bengal Frontier seized 34 plastic bags containing fish eggs in two separate incidents within their area of responsibility. The market value of the seized fish eggs amounts to Rs. 4,00,000/-. The smugglers were attempting to smuggle the fish eggs from India to Bangladesh.

In the first incident on June 6, 2023, the jawans from Border Out Post Kanikati, 118 Battalion spotted a group of 7-8 smugglers approaching the border. The jawans gave chase and confronted them. Upon seeing the approaching jawans, the smugglers took advantage of the darkness and a nearby banana orchard to escape. Subsequently, the jawans thoroughly searched the area and discovered 28 plastic bags containing fish eggs at the spot.

In another incident on the same day at 0220 hours, troops from Border Outpost Dobila, 153 Battalion seized an additional 6 plastic bags containing fish eggs within their jurisdiction.

The seized contraband has been handed over to the relevant authorities for further legal proceedings.

A spokesperson from the BSF, South Bengal Frontier emphasized that the Border Security Force remains vigilant along the international border, and no movement of smugglers can escape their watchful eyes. The spokesperson further highlighted that despite the smugglers’ attempts to employ various tactics, the BSF jawans successfully foil their plans.
