On the occasion of World Environment Day, several programs were organized at the airports of North Eastern Region along with tree plantation drive. Under the ‘Mission Lifestyle’ campaign, which ran almost month-long, awareness programs at airports, messages on the use of eco-friendly material and inclusion of it in everyone’s lifestyle were also disseminated to the passengers.
At the Regional headquarters of the Airports Authority of India, NER, Guwahati, on June 05, 2023, all the employees were administered pledge by the Regional Executive Director to ensure their responsibility towards the environment. The program aimed to save the environment, changes that we make in our daily life, office activities, our family and friends, all were motivated for eco-friendly behaviour.
Shri Sanmukh Jugani, Regional Executive Director while addressing everyone said that we should adopt eco-friendly behaviour in our daily life as well. Use minimal or no plastic. Take care of whatever plants you grow. Keep cleaning the surroundings regularly, use electricity and water properly and also pay attention to its saving measures. We should adopt change in behaviour in our home as well as in the office work, he added.
Jugani also planted a sapling in the office premises, after which all the employees also planted different types of saplings in the surrounding and participated in the tree plantation programme. After this, a quiz competition was also organized for the AAI employees. In which questions related to environmental awareness, importance of World Environment Day, its various global programs were asked. This entire program was conducted by Human Resource Department and coordinated by Gian Batra, General Manager (Human Resource).
On this occasion, Gian Batra said that along with environmental protection, we should also make our lifestyle according to our environment we live. From our eating habits to office behaviour, these also play an important role in environmental protection. He thanked everyone for successfully organizing this event.
Similarly, tree plantation, quiz competition, along with motivating for cleanliness in the office, the message of environment protection was also broadcasted at most of the airports of the North Eastern Region. At Shillong Airport, AAI in collaboration with the India Tourism Department organized several eco-friendly programs and also presented saplings to the passengers on the day.
