The BSF, deployed on the India-Bangladesh border, not only guards the international border but also conducts regular awareness programs to combat crimes and misconduct in the region.
In this regard, on June 7, 2023, the Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of the 70th Battalion under South Bengal Frontier and the Shakti Vahini NGO organized an awareness program from 10:30 to 12:30 hours at Moudal Academy (Dustabighi) in Kaliyachak, Malda, to prevent human trafficking and other crimes.
During this awareness program, the AHTU of BSF provided information to students on various topics such as human trafficking, child marriage, child sexual abuse, child labor, gender discrimination, and the importance of education. A total of 250 students, including 15 school staff members, participated in the program.
The villagers and students expressed their gratitude to BSF for organizing this program and urged the jawans to continue conducting such awareness programs in the future.
The Commanding Officer of the 70th Battalion stated that these programs are organized periodically to foster better relations between the border population and the BSF. He also emphasized the importance of providing quality education to children to enable them to become responsible citizens.
