Troops of the BSF under the South Bengal Frontier successfully intercepted and seized 06 kg of Ganja and 143 bottles of Phensedyl that smugglers were attempting to smuggle from India to Bangladesh on the Indo-Bangladesh border. The estimated value of the seized Phensedyl bottles is Rs.32,295/-.
In the first incident on June 12, 2023, troops of Border Outpost Tarali, 112 Battalion spotted a group of smugglers moving towards the border fence, taking advantage of darkness and bushes, and preparing to throw plastic bags over the fence. As the jawans advanced towards the smugglers to thwart their smuggling attempt, the smugglers quickly fled the scene, capitalizing on the darkness. During an intensive search of the area, the jawans recovered 06 kg of ganja.
In another incident on June 12, troops of Border Outpost Baijnathpur, 86 Battalion, as well as Haladarpara and Tungi, Adhoc SB – V Battalion, seized 143 bottles of Phensedyl within their area of responsibility.
The apprehended smugglers and the seized contraband were handed over to the appropriate agencies for further legal action.
A spokesperson from the BSF, South Bengal Frontier, stated that the BSF troops maintain round-the-clock border surveillance and remain dedicated to halting all forms of smuggling activities along the border.
