On June 18, 2023, vigilant jawans from the Border Outpost Govardha 153 Battalion operating under the South Bengal Frontier, successfully intercepted and seized 08 packets of fish Larva within their area of responsibility. The seized fish Larva are estimated to have a market value of Rs. 8,00,000/-.
Upon receiving valuable intelligence, the Govardha Outpost promptly intensified its surveillance efforts and initiated an extensive search operation. During the operation, the jawans noticed a group of smugglers hastily approaching the border. Swiftly responding to the situation, the BSF personnel pursued and confronted the smugglers, compelling them to abandon their illicit cargo in an attempt to escape. Exploiting the cover of darkness, the smugglers managed to flee. However, the jawans successfully seized the fish eggs from the location.
In other incident,on the same day at 0930 night, a woman Ratna Ghazi (44 years) and her granddaughter, residents of village Vilapania, Bangladesh, were being illegally brought across the International Border by Indian tout Qudus for Rs 10,000. Then the BSF jawans arrested the Bangladeshi woman along with her granddaughter.And broker escaped from there.
The arrested BD national and seized items were handed over to the customs office Hingalganj for further legal action.
The commanding officer of the 86 Battalion applauded the exemplary action of the BSF troops maintain round-the-clock border surveillance and remain dedicated to halting all forms of smuggling activities along the border.
