On 28th June 2023, at 1415 hrs, troops of ICP Petrapole, 145 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier foiled a smuggling attempt and seized a large quantity of tin metallic plates and medicines. The seized goods were being brought into India from Bangladesh. The estimated value of the seized goods is Rs.5,64,832/-.
In fact, during the checking of Goods train (Engine No. 11499) coming from Bangladesh to India, BSF troops recovered 19 pieces of tin metallic plates wrapped in plastic covers weighing 209.8 kg and 12 packets of Bangladeshi-made contraceptive pills.
The seized goods have been handed over to the Customs Office, Petrapole.
The Public Relations Officer of BSF, South Bengal Frontier stated that BSF is taking strict steps to stop smuggling along the Indo-Bangladesh border. Due to this, people involved in crime are facing a lot of problems. Further, the officer stated that BSF jawans will not allow smuggling from their area under any circumstances.
