BSF jawans under South Bengal Frontier seized 169 bottles of Phensedyl and 12 kg of Ganja from their area of responsibility along Indo-Bangladesh border and also nabbed a Bangladeshi smuggler. Smugglers were trying to take these contraband items from India to Bangladesh. The estimated value of the seized Phensedyl bottles is Rs.38,167/-.
In fact, on July 05, 2023, troops of Border Post Dobarpada, 05 Battalion noticed suspicious movement of 02 smugglers near the International Border. The jawans noticed that the smugglers were moving towards the border with some goods. The jawans chased and challenged the smugglers. However, the jawans nabbed a Bangladeshi smuggler on the spot while another smuggler managed to escape. The jawans seized 75 bottles of Phensedyl from the possession of the arrested smuggler. The apprehended smuggler has been identified as Ashanur Rahman, District Jessore, Bangladesh.
During interrogation, the smuggler revealed that he had obtained these Phensedyl bottles from Noor Mohammad, Thana Gaighata, District North 24 Parganas. After this, he was about to cross the border and hand over these goods to Bangladeshi smuggler Tahidul, District Jessore, Bangladesh. For this work he was to get 7,000/- Bangladeshi Taka.
Apart from this, in other incidents on the same day, jawans of Border Outposts Tungi, Adhoc SB-V Battalion, R C Pur, 107 Battalion, Natna, 84 Battalion and Pakshi, 86 Battalion seized 94 bottles of Phensedyl and Seized 12 kg ganja.
The seized goods were handed over to the concerned agencies for further legal action.
A spokesman of BSF, South Bengal Frontier expressed happiness over the achievement of the jawans and stated that Border Security Force always maintains vigilance and adopts various operational measures to prevent smuggling along the border. He also stated that BSF has an excellent team to provide information related to smuggling, which keeps a close watch on the criminal activities happening in the border area.
