District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC) Bomdila has done Tobacco Free Village Advocacy Meeting with the stakeholders of Shergaon Village on 7th July 2023 in West Kameng district under PAN India Tobacco Free Youth Campaign at Garung Thuk Community Library Hall Shergaon.
Sang Dorjee Dirkhipa (District Consultant, DTC Cell Bomdila) sensitized stakeholders such as PRI Members, GBs, CRC Shergaon, SHGs under NRLM, Youths, ASHAs, Anganwadis, Teaching staffs and Students of GMS Thukman on Tobacco Control Laws (COTPA 2003) and TOFEI Guidelines and awareness on harmful-effects of Tobacco use with the help of PPT. In addition, detail discussion based on NTCP (National Tobacco Control Programme) guidelines regarding initiatives to be taken for making village tobacco free, roles and responsibilities of stakeholders in advocating Tobacco Free Village were done. It was also attended by Dr. S K thongon (DPO NTCP), Dr. S W Thongdok (M O, PHC Shergaon) and other health professional of PHC Shergaon.
It was decided in the meeting that a committee under the leadership of MO i/c PHC Shergaon and PRI Members of Shergaon Village would be constituted and committee will initiate and monitor activities under Tobacco Free Village initiative.
