Total 12 people died in West Bengal Panchayat Election 2023, opposition BJP demanded President rule

At least 12 people died in the  West Bengal Panchayat Election according to the report of ABP Ananda a Bengali regional news channel from Kolkata.

The single-phased panchayat elections are underway in West Bengal from today morning.

Total 38 people have lost their life till now from the announcement day of the panchayat election.

The ruling Trinamool Congress lost Seven, BJP Two, CPIM Two and  Congress lost One of its supporters to poll violence.

State Congress president and leader of the opposition Lok Sabha Adhir Chowdhury alleged that the goons associated with the TMC are having a free run and that the people’s mandate has been stolen in West Bengal.

CPIM General Secretary Md Salim told reporters the central force was not properly mobilized despite the high court order.

On July 4, Calcutta High Court Division Bench directs State Election Commission to deploy an equal number of CAPF and state armed forces in booths; also directs that CAPF to stay until the entire process of election is over.

Shuendu Adhikari the leader of the opposition West Bengal demanded the imposition of the President’s Rule in the state in state.

West Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose met people in various districts to take stock ongoing situation in the state. The Governor said says ‘Violence won’t be tolerated.’

Amid incidents of violence during voting for the Panchayat election across the state the BJP and CPIM supporters today start a protest outside the State Election Commission Office in Kolkata.

The counting of votes will be held on July 11.
