Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma today pay homage to U Tirot Sing Syiem on his 188th death anniversary at Mairang.
Taking to Twitter Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma wrote, “Better die an independent king than reign as the vassal” On his 188th Death Anniversary, we pay homage to U Tirot Sing Syiem, the great freedom fighter of Meghalaya who fought till his last breath to prevent Khasi Hills from falling into the hands of the British colonizers.”
U Tirot Sing Syiem, was a Khasi leader and freedom fighter from Meghalaya who played a crucial role in the Khasi Hills in the early 1800s.
Born in 1802, he passed away in 17th July 1835.
