The BSF deployed on the Indo-Bangladesh border is not only guarding the International Border but also organizes awareness programs from time to time to curb crimes and malpractices, in collaboration with various NGOs. In this connection, on August 12, 2023, the Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of the 70 Battalion under the South Bengal Frontier, along with the ‘Shakti Vahini’ NGO, organized an awareness program related to prevention of human trafficking and other crimes at Bengal Taj Mission, Sabdalpur, Malda.
In this awareness programme, the Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of BSF briefed the school girls on topics like human trafficking, child abuse, child labour, gender discrimination, misuse of social media and importance of education etc. 10 teachers and 145 schoolgirls participated in the awareness programme.
The teachers and girl students expressed their gratitude towards BSF for organizing this program and urged the jawans to organize such awareness programs in future also.
AK Arya, DIG, Spokesperson, BSF, South Bengal Frontier stated that the entire society has to come together to destroy crimes like human trafficking. We need to identify the weak people of the society whom the touts first target. In this way, together we can destroy the networks of human trafficking and create a safer world where the rights and dignity of every person are respected. He also stated that let us all be vigilant and come forward together to end human trafficking.
